D. Rodriguez Overproof Daiquiri
This classic cocktail gets a unique twist from our very own D. Rodriguez & Sons Overproof Rum!
In honor of National Daiquiri Day, we’re proud to introduce our own version of this classic made with a very special spirit: D. Rodriguez & Sons Overproof Rum. Named for our beloved “Day One” Danny Rodriguez, the very first hire at our distillery, we first released this rum in February 2021. Danny’s namesake spirit boasts a flavor profile full of melon, citrus, and burnt sugar, and features five blue stars on the label representing his proud Honduran heritage.
This specialty cocktail blends the history of our distillery with American rum tradition. In the 1940s, US soldiers overseas received rations of vodka and whiskey, leading to national shortages. With President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1933 Good Neighbor Policy, trade began to increase with Caribbean nations and rum began to flow into the United States by way of Florida. The daiquiri quickly became extremely popular in the Sunshine State, and was famously enjoyed by the likes of author Ernest Hemingway and former President John F. Kennedy.

RECIPE: D. Rodriguez Overproof Daiquiri
INGREDIENTS
1 oz fresh lime juice
½ oz simple syrup
Lime wheel (for garnish)
DIRECTIONS
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake until ice cracks.
Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with lime wheel. Enjoy!
